Ministries
A Christian ministry is the activity and responsibility of the church (or the body of Christ) in the fulfillment of its bibli-cally defined mandate in the world. The ministry of the church can be defined in several ways. First, the ministry of the church can be defined as the fulfillment of the Great Commandment of our Lord: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind” and “You shall love your neighbour as your-self” (Matthew 22:37 & 39).
Second, Christian ministry can be defined in terms of the Great Commission of our Lord: “Go therefore and make dis-ciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20). Third, the process and objective of Christian min-istry can be defined in the words of apostle Paul “the equip-ping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edify-ing of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect person, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, that we...may grow up in all things into Him who is the head, that is, Christ” (Ephesians 4:12-15). Last but not least, ministry can be defined in terms of the model of the early church which focused on teaching the apostles’ doc-trine, engaging in fellowship, commemorating the breaking bread, praying together, caring for one another, worshiping God, and actively evangelizing the community (Acts 2:42-47). This continues to be the basis of biblical, balanced min-istry today in many churches today.
From these Scriptures, it is evident that Christian ministry has as its priority….. the worship of God, followed by service for God in the proclamation of the gospel (the fruit of which is the baptism of repentant sinners), and the edification of the believers.
Deacons
Serving as extended arms of the Pastor, we minister to the congregation. It is our hope to assist in the spiritual growth of the individual member as we as the corporate organism. We hold ourselves accountable to our church theme: “The church is one foundation” I Corin-thians 3:11
It is our prayer and desire to ensure the development of a Christ centered environment with commitment to the standard of the ministry proclaimed by the written and preached Word of God.
Mother's Board
Our mission statement as Mothers of Wayside consists of several aspects that affect the body of Christ. As Mothers our mission requires that we pray for our pastor, our church as a collective body and the world as a whole.
Hospitality
Our mission is to extend the love of Christ to all that enter into the house of God. Our Hospitality Ministry is compara-tive to the first responders. We are the first to meet and greet our brothers and sisters in Christ and all guests.
We provide assistance and directions when requested or re-quired. Our future vision includes becoming a stronger min-istry in the body of Christ, providing training for those who desire to function in the call that God has placed on their lives to join the ministry of help.
Our values are not limited to having love and respect for each other. It is our desire that we care for every person as if they are royalty. Not to mention we want to always extend an in-fectious SMILE.
Youth & Young Adult
The purpose of the Youth and Young Adult Ministry at Way-side Baptist church is to enhance the educational, social, rec-reational, psychological and spiritual environment of the Wayside community. In do so, we believe there are activities and programs that are relevant to general challenges and problems facing youth and young adults.
